Services

  • Individual Therapy

I offer evidence-based outpatient therapy services for adults, teens, and children. To start, you’ll have an initial therapy appointment where background information will be gathered to help me better understand your concerns and goals. Following this appointment, we will make a plan together that addresses how we will work toward your goals and how we’ll know you’re making progress. From this plan, we will decide together how often therapy meetings should occur (weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.). Throughout treatment we conduct research-based assessments and track your progress toward your best self.

All therapy appointments are currently via telehealth.

  • Couples Therapy

My academic research focuses on how our interpersonal relationships shape us and our mental health across the lifespan. I am particularly focused on healthy romantic relationship development. Through this work I have cultivated an expertise in couples’ therapy. During couples’ therapy, both partners attend sessions together to work on improving specific problems in their relationship. Common goals include improving intimacy, trust, boundaries, and communication. My therapeutic approach is non-judgmental and non-blaming. My research has demonstrated that individuals each bring important parts of themselves to the couple and these contributions shape reoccurring patterns in the relationship. I use research and gold-standard clinical interventions to help couples’ break unwanted patterns and empower couples with the skills and tools for improved healthy relationships.

If you are interested in addressing relationship concerns without your partner attending therapy sessions, individual therapy offers an opportunity to improve your relationships on your own.

  • Parenting

Research has shown that parents provide the critical foundation for interpersonal relationships across development. The patterns that form in childhood influence how we interact with peers and romantic relationships well into adulthood. An investment in your child’s functioning across domains (sleeping, eating, emotional health, behaviors) will improve not only these immediate targets but will help you form a stronger positive bond relationship with your child. Parenting sessions are designed to help you be a more effective parent and increase the fun in your relationship. During the initial session, caregiver(s) meet with me and discuss your child’s strengths and areas of concern to develop a plan for making a change and increase family functioning. We will work together to understand the patterns of behavior that have emerged and implement evidence-based strategies to support you as you navigate your family’s needs.

Common issues addressed in this brief parenting program include picky eating, tantrums, sleep disturbances, potty training, attentional concerns, managing screen time, sibling rivalry, and rule breaking.

We also offer consultations for expectant and new parents that are briefer and focused on helping you thrive during this period of transition.

  • Evaluations

I typically conduct two kinds of evaluations. Comprehensive educational evaluations are designed to understand a child’s individual strengths and weaknesses. Children and adults 6 and older participate in a series of intelligence, academic performance, executive functioning, and psychosocial assessments. Evaluations begin with an initial parent meeting to discuss concerns and gain a better understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Next, one or two testing sessions will be scheduled. These are in person and are 2-3 hours each. Following the evaluation, I meet with caregivers and the child once more to review evaluation results and discuss recommendations. Families will receive a report detailing appropriate diagnoses (e.g., ADHD, Reading Disorder/Dyslexia, Depression) and corresponding recommendations for school accommodations. These evaluations are only conducted in-person.

For adults (18 and over) who are not seeking school accommodations but are concerned about attentional difficulties, I also conduct ADHD evaluations. These are briefer evaluations designed to assess for symptoms of ADHD through clinical interviews and a brief battery of computer-based assessments. You will receive a report detailing your evaluation results, your ADHD diagnosis if relevant, and recommendations. These evaluations can be completed remotely.
